FAQ
Kleins & Us
Kleins has a rich history as a family business run for 3 generations. They supplied the London Theatre land, costume and fashion designers, fashion students and anyone with a love of a gorgeous trim. That's not my story to tell - this bit is our story.
In the late 1980s Richard joined Kleins as an assistant. It was a vibrant shop on Noel Street, full of interesting and wonderful trims and just off of Oxford Street and right in the heart of the West End of London. He went on to become their salesperson and lugged shoulder pads and lace collars around all the design studios - Vivienne Westwood and a young Alexander McQueen among them.
Meanwhile, Sharon was working on the other side of Oxford Street in one of the design studios and would happily pop over to Kleins basement when in need of a covered button.
As they tend to do, one thing led to another and 30 odd years later, we are now the proud custodians of Kleins Haberdashery, still a family business - just a different family. We still supply beautiful things to the London Theatre land, costume and fashion designers, fashion students and anyone with a love of a gorgeous trim!
What is Deadstock?
Deadstock is basically excess inventory. This can be the excess from production runs (as there is often a minimum order quantity (MOQ) - EG: you only need 76 zips but the minimum order is 100, you can see how you'd soon build up an excess!) or cancelled orders and vintage stock. In our case deadstock refers to the original stock of haberdashery from the closure of the Kleins London shop. We took over Kleins when the original owner Raymond retired and closed his shop on Noel Street, London, and there was no where for the haberdashery to go. Much of the stock was originally supplied to the film, theatre and costume industry.
Are you getting a trim back in?
Honestly it depends on the trim!
We have a 'core' selection of haberdashery and threads that we plan to keep in stock such as Corozo buttons and our Organic elastics. YKK zips and some trims can be especially ordered in for you but please note that there is often a minimum order.
In the case of our vintage and deadstock trims they are often irreplaceable and no longer produced, but we are always happy to check.
What lengths are your cut trims sold in?
Our cut trims are all sold by the metre, unless otherwise stated. If possible, we will always try to send a continuous length.
I forgot to add something to my order, can I add it now?
We will do our best to combine orders and pack items ordered separately together in one parcel to reduce your postage costs, but if the packing team have already started packing your order then it may not be possible. Please email us at hello@kleinshaberdashery.co.uk and we'll do our best to help.
I live locally, can I collect from you?
Yes, you can! Just drop us an email to say you'd like to collect and I'll let you know when your order is ready. Once collected we will of course refund the postage.
When Can I Expect my Order?
We post out on Mondays, Wednesday and Friday (excluding bank holidays).
We aim to process your order within 2 working days, this may increase during very busy periods. See all of our Delivery + Shipping Info Here
